Privacy Policy — Three Dogs

Three Dogs (“Three Dogs,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a lesson-planning workspace for teachers. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our website and application (the “Service”), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Three Dogs is built for educators; it is not directed to children.

Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and basic profile information from Google to identify your account.
Content you create. The classes, units, lessons, instructional materials (quizzes, worksheets, study guides, exit tickets, tests), adaptations, schedules, and private teaching notes you create or import, including any files you upload.
Settings. Preferences such as your teaching state or jurisdiction and district selection, used to show the right standards and configure your workspace.
Google account data. If you choose to connect Google Classroom, we access limited Google data as described in the Google user data section below.
Usage and technical data. Basic analytics (such as page views and feature usage) and server logs (such as error reports and request metadata) that help us operate, secure, and improve the Service. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

How we use information

To provide, maintain, and operate the Service and your account.
To generate AI-assisted lessons and materials from the inputs you provide (see AI processing).
To secure the Service and prevent abuse.
To communicate with you about your account or the Service.
To understand and improve how the Service is used.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do notuse your content or your students’ information for advertising.

AI processing

Core features use AI to draft and adapt lessons and materials. To do this, the relevant text you provide (for example a lesson objective, lesson content, or a topic) is sent to our AI model providers — currently Anthropic and OpenAI — through the Vercel AI Gateway, which returns the generated result to you. These providers process your input only to produce the requested output. Under their API terms, content submitted through their APIs is not used to train their models. AI output can be imperfect; you remain responsible for reviewing it before classroom use.

Google user data

Connecting Google Classroom is optional. When you connect it, you grant Three Dogs access to the following scopes so you can publish materials to your own classes:

See your Google Classroom classes (classroom.courses.readonly) — to list your courses as publishing destinations. We store only the course id and name of the classes you choose to link.
Manage coursework you create (classroom.coursework.students) — to create, update, and remove the assignments you publish from Three Dogs.
Create Google Forms and Docs on your behalf (forms.body, drive.file) — to publish a quiz as a Google Form or a material as a Doc. drive.file limits our access to only the files Three Dogs creates.

We do notaccess, request, or store your students’ rosters, names, email addresses, submissions, or grades. We access your Google data only to perform actions you initiate, and we store only the minimum needed to make publishing work (the linked course id and name).

Three Dogs’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. You can revoke Three Dogs’s access at any time from your Google Account permissions or from within the app.

Students and educational records

Three Dogs is a tool for teachers. We do not intentionally collect personally identifiable information about students. The Google Classroom integration publishes teacher-created materials to a teacher’s own courses and stores only course-level identifiers — not student records. Where a school or district acts as the party responsible for student data under laws such as FERPA, teachers should use the Service consistent with their institution’s policies.

How information is stored and shared

We use the following service providers to run Three Dogs:

Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
Vercel — application hosting and the AI Gateway.
Anthropic and OpenAI — AI model providers (via the Vercel AI Gateway).
Google — only when you connect Google Classroom.

These providers process data on our behalf to deliver the Service. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the Service. We do not sell your data.

Your private teaching notes

Teaching notes are private to you. They are never shown to school or district administrators through the Service, and we do not use them to generate content shared with others.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Access to your content is scoped to your account through database-level row security, so other users cannot read your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information using reasonable technical and organizational measures.

Data retention and your choices

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account and associated data through our contact form. We will delete your content from active systems upon a verified request, subject to limited retention where required by law or for security. You can disconnect Google access at any time as described above.

Children

The Service is intended for teachers and other adult educators and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
